A Brief Study About SLAT Exam

SLAT or Symbiosis Law Admission Test is an entrance exam held by Symbiosis International University. The university conducts the exam for five-year integrated law courses offered by the university, namely, BBA LLB (Honours) and BA LLB (Honours). Four campuses of Symbiosis International University offer these law courses. SLAT is an exam conducted once a year for undergraduate courses. It is an online exam.

The Exam Pattern of SLAT

There is a section of Written Ability Test with a duration of 30 minutes. If the candidate is shortlisted for further admission process, then the university evaluates the WAT, which has subjective type essay questions.

The Exam Dates

Symbiosis University conducts the SLAT exam once a year. Symbiosis International had postponed the examination date due to the COVID-19 crisis. The registration date was extended until 20th May 2020 as well. The applicants appeared for the exam 26th July to 28th July 2020, conducted online.

THE SCORE VALIDITY

The SLAT score is valid for one year when the candidate has given the exam.

Exam Eligibility

The criteria to write a SLAT exam is as follows.

Academic

● The candidates should clear the 12th-grade examination from any board to be able to write the SLAT entrance test.

● The candidates should have cleared the 12th examination in one attempt.

● If the candidates have completed 12th from open learning or Open University, the system they will not be eligible to write SLAT.

Marks

● The candidates should have obtained at least 45% from the qualifying exams. If they belong to SC/ST, then they need to get at least 40%.

Age

● There is no specific age requirement as such.

Exam Fee

The registration fees for the SLAT entrance exam is INR 1750.

Cancellation Fee: The SLAT registration fee is non-refundable. If the candidate cancels the application, they will not get any refund for cancellation.

GATE Rescheduling Fee: Since the exam takes place only once a year, and one cannot reschedule the dates. This cancels out the possibility of rescheduling fees.

How to Apply for the Exam?

Step 1: The first step to apply for the SLAT entrance test is to visit the official website of SIU.

Step 2: The next step is to click on "Register Now", and the candidate will be directed to the registration window automatically.

Step 3: After this, the candidate will receive a SLAT ID.

Step 4: The candidate has to fill out the application form once registration is done. All the details must be filled carefully.

Step 5: The candidates have to upload a scanned photograph along with the application. SLAT recommends uploading a recent picture and not be older than three months.

Step 6:After this, the candidate needs to deposit the SLAT application fee of INR 1750.

Step 7: Once all the above steps are done, the candidate must submit their completed SLAT entrance application form.

Step 8: The candidates should print or download and keep the application form for future reference.
