Types of Law Questions that are Recurring in the MH CET Examinations Over the Years

Law has always been one of the most reputed professions. It is not only challenging but Law as a career choice brings about a good career growth opportunity. Law is not only about being a lawyer but law, in general, is very influential over our society. Being a Lawyer, challenges a person to carve themselves, intellectually, personally and it can also be an adventurous career choice. Even under Law, there are several streams that one can opt for to specialize in. Law provides income but also it gives you a chance to contribute to society. There are many law entrance exams one can take to start their career in law like CLAT, LSAT, AILET, MHCET.

Maharashtra Common Entrance test for law also known as MH CET is a state-level exam. This exam is organized and monitored under the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Government of Maharashtra, which is situated in Mumbai. This exam's test scores are considered by many prestigious universities in Maharashtra. MH CET Exam can be taken by aspirants for both 3 years course and 5 years course. This test unlocks not only private but also government colleges for the applicants. MH CET for Law is considered to be moderately difficult.

The paper for MH CET for Law is a 2 hours paper consisting of 150 questions. This exam is an objective-type question paper. The seat intake is 5000 for 5 years law degree program and 15000 for 3 years law degree program. The exam is conducted online. There is a division onto years as:

  1. 3 years Law degree is for aspirants who have already graduated with general and reserved category must have at least scored above 45% Percentage and 40% Percentage.
  2. 5 years Law degree is for the aspirants who are 10+2 passed out with General and Reserved category having above 45% Percentage and 40% Percentage.

Applicants should know that 85% of seats are reserved for domicile Maharashtra in law colleges and the remaining 15% are for Outside Maharashtra applicants. Let’s take a look at the registration process.

After the registration process is completed, the applicant will have to download the admit card which will be available on the State Common Entrance Test cell's official website. Once the registration process is complete, the Applicant should start with his/her exam preparations. But before preparations, applicants should go through the entire syllabus to schedule preparations. The syllabus for MH CET Law for 3 years L.L.B Program is:

  1. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning – This section of the paper is to test the ability of the aspirants to analyse legal prepositions upon which the applicants have to draw appropriate conclusions. This section will consist of 30 questions.
  2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs – Under this section, Applicants have to prepare with static general knowledge like History, geography, General Science, Economics, and Civics. The applicant should also be updated about the current international and national affairs of the past 1-2 years. This section will have 40 questions.
  3. Logical reasoning and Analytical Reasoning – This section will have questions on patterns, logical and illogical arguments, analogies, supported conclusions, relationship understanding, structures. This section will have 30 questions.
  4. English – This section will evaluate the applicant's command of the English language. English Language section will have comprehension passages, synonyms, and antonyms, Idioms, and Phrases fill in the blank, correcting incorrect sentences, jumble words, articles, and prepositions. This section will have 50 questions.
    For the 5-year L.L.B Program there is an additional section, where the English will be reduced to 40 questions, and the Mathematics aptitude section will be added.
  5. Mathematical Aptitude – This section will have questions related to school Mathematics. The questions will be based on Profit and Loss, Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Algebra, Average, and Venn Diagrams. This section will have 10 questions.

There is a slight possibility of questions being repeated in the test. The applicant needs to practice sample and mock tests. Along with this, it is also suggested to solve previous years' papers which can be downloaded from Arihant or Uttam Publications website or their book of previous year MH CET Law question papers. Some of the questions are below:

When the exam date is nearer, applicants should make sure to revise every topic. It is advised to the applicants to reach their centres 30 minutes early with their admit card and photo ID proof. The applicant will know his/her examination hall center on the admit card.

After this tedious examination procedure, the results are expected to be out in July 2021. The applicants will be called for counselling, based on the merit list. The counselling procedure will also be conducted online under the authority of the State Common entrance test cell through the Centralized Admission Process. Applicants should keep all their relevant documents ready in-order to confirm their seats.
