NIRF Rankings have been released today by the MHRD Ministry today afternoon in which IITs have again scored big in the list with IIT Madras emerging as the best in overall categories. Giving a spectacular start to the NIRF 2020 rankings of all the IITs, we have our first top IIT from the city called “Gateway to the South India”, IIT Madras. Continuing its legacy, this institute has again maintained 1st position among all the technical institutes across the nation in NIRF Rankings 2020. We would like to congratulate and wish to see this constancy over the years again.
From the Gateway of south, moving on to the nation’s capital, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has also maintained its consistency for securing top positions for the years. It has secured 2nd rank in NIRF 2020 overall rankings. Already entitled with the tag of Institute of eminence, it has bagged 2nd rank among the IITs and has continued to be among the top institutes of our nation.
Continuing our journey, coming on to the financial capital of the nation, we have Indian Institute of Technology Bombay that has been positioned 3rd in 2020 NIRF overall Rankings as well as among the IITs.It ranked 1st in 2018 NIRF rankings but saw a downfall in the last year rankings and has secured 3RD rank in 2019 NIRF Rankings as well as among the IITs across the nation.
Coming on to Uttar Pradesh, the heartland of India with diverse culture and population, we have Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. It has bagged 4th position in the 2020 NIRF Rankings as well as the same 4th rank among the IITs.This institute has constantly improved its rankings over the years and has secured 5th position in 2019 rankings in engineering category and was at the 5th position among the IITs.
From UP, heading towards the land of sweet dishes West Bengal, There’s Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the oldest premier technical institute has continued its glory to be among top IITs for years. It has secured 5th rank in NIRF 2020 rankings as well as among the IITs.In 2019 NIRF rankings, it has secured 4th rank in overall rankings as well as among the IITs.
Retracing our steps from Bengal, moving on to Land of gods Uttrakhand , we have Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.This institute has again secured 6th rank in 2020 NIRF rankings as it maintained 6th rank in the NIRF 2019,2018 and 2017 rankings. Also among the IITs also ,it is at 6th rank for past 3 years.
From Roorkee,heading towards the Gateway of North-East Guwahati. Another premier institute, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati grabbed 7th position in 2020 rankings and among the IITs.Over last 3 years, it has maintained 7th position in 2019,2018,2017 rankings as well as among the IITs throughout the nation.
Coming on to south, to the city of Mughal culture,Hyderabad.We have Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. This institute has secured 8th rank in 2020 NIRF rankings. Being in top 10,this institute has improved its rank from 10th in 2017 to 9th in 2018 and again to 8th in 2019 NIRF rankings. It is at 8Th position among all the IITs this year.
Continuing again, we now head towards the heart of nation MP. Indian Institute of Technology Indore, in spite of being new IIT, it has been successful in grabbing 10th rank this year in the overall NIRF rankings. It had secured 13th position in 2019 rankings improving itself from the 14th rank it got in 2018 rankings. Currently, it is at 9th position among all the IITs.
From the holy city we move on to city of Lord Vishwanath, Varanasi. We have another oldest premier institute Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi(BHU). This year, IIT BHU has secured 11th position in NIRF Rankings and is at 10th position among all the IITs. It has secured 11th rank in 2019 NIRF rankings which was much better than its 19th rank in NIRF 2018 rankings.
From UP, moving to the city of minerals in Jharkhand, we have Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad.This institute has got 12th rank in 2020 NIRF Rankings and is at 11th position among all the IITs.It has improved its ranking as in 2019 rankings as it grabbed 15th position, slipping 2 ranks back as it had secured 13th position in 2018 overall rankings.
Coming on to south of Jharkhand, to the city of Lord Jagannath and where the sea view refreshes one’s mind and soul, Bhubaneshwar. Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneshwar , This IIT has been positioned 22nd in overall 2020 NIRF rankings.IIT Bhubaneshwar has improved its ranking from 51th rank in 2018 to 46th in 2019 overall NIRF rankings. Currently, it is at 12th position among all the IITs.
Heading to the west to the state of white kuttch desert, varied food items and Gujarati culture, we have Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in Gujarat. This newly opened IIT has also done well and has been successful in grabbing 24th position in 2020 rankings and is currently at 13th position among the IITs across the nation. It has improved its ranking over year as it was at 22nd rank in 2019 NIRF rankings.
Moving towards the state of the Golden temple having people with Golden hearts, Another IIT, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has secured 25th rank in 2020 NIRF rankings and is at the 14th position among the IITs.It had 29th rank in 2019 overall NIRF rankings.
Continuing our ranking journey we now head towards the land of great personalities and the place where UPSC is trend, Bihar. Indian Institute of Technology Patna, situated in Patna saw ups and down in its ranking in the previous years. This year it has grabbed 26th rank in overall rankings and is at 15th position among the IITs.It saw a downfall since last year as it was at 22nd position in 2019 NIRF rankings.
Tracing our journey from Bihar, we move on to the land of mountains also known as Dev-Bhoomi,Himachal Pradesh. We have Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has slipped backwards and has got 31st rank in NIRF 2020 overall rankings. It ranked 20th in NIRF 2019 rankings in overall category .Also it is at the 16th position among all the IITs.
Coming on to our next and last IIT ,we have Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur in the state having rich spices and traditional Rajwadi culture. This Institute has grabbed 53rd position in NIRF 2020 rankings and is at 17th rank among the NITs. It ranked 50th in 2019 overall NIRF rankings and has seen slight downfall in its position.
NIRF 2020 rankings has shown a tough fight among these top institutions to grab top positions. Many trends in the ranks have been changed and many institutes have improved their rankings. We hope that all institutions would continue putting efforts in their teaching, academic and researching methodologies to improve them in order to be among the world top universities in the upcoming years.
